This word comes from II Chronicles 7:14. The word  humble means be subdued - be brought down, be low, be under, be brought into subjection. The church today, as a whole, is not nearly standing in the power and authority of humility and prayer as called for. The scripture also states that if we  seek His face , which means if we focus on the Lord, not our ways and our traditions, while we turn from our wicked ways& . What are  our wicked ways ? I m not the judge, but I do understand by the Spirit that our attitude has turned inwards to self reward and self recognition. Have we lost our true calling as a body to render mercy and daily practical application of meeting others needs? Have we lost our  true north to put God first, others second, self last? Have we forgotten the standards Faith sets for our own nuclear lives as well as those of our community and nation? Have we stopped pursuing righteousness and allowed  the world to enter our lives in degrading and corrupting ways, allowing us to be like them? Have we built monuments to our  Faith that have no other function but to provide a place for people to gather for social recognition as a person labeled Christian? Have we allowed our self focus to separate and divide the body and bride of Jesus into factions that are too afraid of admitting our doctrines keep us apart, therefore not loving one another as commanded by Jesus himself? Have we have gotten so comfortable in our own surroundings we ve lost the true calling of Christ upon our life and settled for a role of administration, association, or just plain old lack of participation? There are some rays of hope. There are prayer meetings where people from many churches come together. There have been training sessions to teach people how to evangelize on the streets and in the new age. And, there is interest in Pastors meeting each other for coordinated efforts and prayer between parts of the Body. But every week I still meet people on the street who cannot and will not ever walk into a church building again simply because they are not accepted. All of us suffer from some type or form of rejection. For many of those we meet downtown, this is the biggest hurdle to their knowing a Christ who DOES NOT reject them. We are on the front lines of Love pouring out the heart of Jesus as though He were standing right next to us. During our feeding times in the last few weeks, street kids, prostitutes, and homeless have actually come up to me to personally thank me for what we re doing. Now, there s a reward! But one I wasn t expecting nor working towards. Just a bonus. One I desperately needed because of the constant oppression of the enemy we see daily. I ve met several young men that were demon possessed. Did we cast out demons? We prayed, but God showed us this was not the time for an open display of His power in that regard. He has a better plan. One that is founded on creating relationships and not one of a dominating or superior attitude. I hear,  But for the grace of God go I every time I meet one of these young men. With my past I should be dead seven times over, much less being an ordained minister and hugging tattooed, pierced, and dread haired street punks. Oh, the Grace, the Mercy. Thoughts from Melody Selahhhh... The Hebrew word  Selah is found seventy one times in the book of Psalms and three times in Habakkuk. The Amplified translation of the bible defines Selah in relation to musical terms as a moment to  pause, and calmly think of that. After a great crescendo of activity this last three months, I am looking forward to a Selah moment over the fourth of July weekend to pause and think on what the Lord has been doing., and, dually, to seek His purposes for the next stretch of our lives ahead. It is impossible to encapsulate where we, Soteria Ministries, have been in a brief sentence or two, but, a punctuated version would include the many and diverse activities that continue to connect us with people from many churches in the region. God has definitely not called us here to get pigeonholed into  our own thing. His heart for us has been to be connecting with the regional church and equipping those that are hungry for the things we have to offer. It has been a privilege for me to teach intercession classes this last fifteen weeks to folks from at least seven different churches. And, Ernie has taught even more in the area of the Prophetic. The best part has been the knitting together of relationships of Christ s bride as we have gathered together. We are all in the same family even if our church membership resides in different houses! There is a real healing taking place as these gatherings have occurred in the lives of those who have felt disconnected or unaccepted, or plainly, have not understood how to utilize the gifts God Has placed within them. A highlight of the month took place on June 6th as we gathered in downtown Asheville to renounce and repent of any personal or generational involvement in the Freemasons. With over 50 people gathered, just one block away from the downtown Scottish Rite Mason building, the Lord showed up mightily and people were illumed to the depth of deception involved in the Masons and many were freed and delivered of strongholds. We believe this is just the beginning of these types of gatherings where God will call us together in acts of repentance to bring healing not only personally, but corporately and to our land. God has been speaking to me this morning already about Habakkuk 2:2 -3 (Amplified Version),  And the Lord answered me and said, Write the vision and engrave it so plainly upon tablets that everyone who passes may be able to read it as he hastens by. For the vision is yet for an appointed time and it hastens to the end [fulfillment}: it will not deceive or disappoint. Though it tarry, wait [earnestly] for it, because it will surely come; it will not be behindhand, on its appointed day.
